exhibitions in unconventional places

The idea is borrowed from what graffiti writers and street artists do in general, but trying to evolve and extend the concept of their work, adding some disturbing elements. Their works are designed for the street, using canonical street art styles. Few graffiti writers or artists deviate from the now canonized and common aesthetic and language.
Considering these small reflections, I tried a different process: exploiting some public and private spaces, more or less exposed to the public, to bring works created to be seen in closed environments such as galleries, halls, and shops, and test the contaminations that could be unleashed simply by changing the exhibition location.
The exhibition project is conceived to last a short period of time, a kind of performance that can also mix various disciplines such as music, soundscapes, theatrical improvisation, dance, and singing.
It’s not a new idea, nor is it particularly original, but it’s stimulating to see how much of an impact it can have and What it can mean to an unsuspecting passerby to find an oil painting in an underpass. The first of a series of events was held on 2025-05-03 in Arezzo.

l’idea è presa in prestito da quello che fanno i writers e la street art in generale ma cercando di evolvere ed estendere il concetto del loro lavoro ed aggiungere alcuni elementi disturbanti. Le loro opere sono progettate per la strada, con stili canonici della street art. Pochi writers o artisti che producono graffiti si discostano dall’estetica e dal linguaggio ormai canonicizzato e comune.
Considerato queste piccole riflessioni ho cercato di fare un processo diverso. sfruttare alcuni luoghi pubblici e privati, più o meno esposti al pubblico per portare lavori creati per essere visti in ambienti chiusi come gallerie, sale, negozi e testare le contaminazioni che si sarebbero potute sprigionare semplicemente cambiando il luogo dell’esposizione.
il progetto dell’esposizione è concepito per durare per un breve lasso di tempo, una specie di performance che può mischiare anche varie discipline come musica, paesaggi sonori, improvvisazioni teatrali, ballo e canto.
Non è un idea nuova e neanche particolarmente originale ma è stimolante vedere quanto possa influire e cosa può suscitare agli occhi di un ignaro passante trovare un dipinto ad olio in un sottopassaggio. Il primo di una serie di eventi è stato tenuto il 2025-05-03 ad Arezzo.
